Power season 6 spoilers: Will Cedric the Entertainer have major role in series finale?

New York crime drama Power left fans on a devastating cliffhanger recently after lead character James “Ghost” St. Patrick was shot and plummeting to his death. Viewers were left with some big questions including who killed Ghost and is he dead or has he faked his own death?

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Power season 6

To add to the mystery, reports are now emerging the character of Croop (played by Cedric the Entertainer) will have a big role to play in the last five episodes.

When audiences last saw Croop, he was bleeding out on the floor of a warehouse after getting shot by Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora).

But reports from Deadline suggest this character will have a major part in the upcoming episodes.

In the remaining instalments, he is said to be part of an out of town underworld team with Brandon Micheal Hall.

As of yet Hall’s role remains something of a mystery but more news is expected to be released soon.

Other cast members joining the show for the home run are former The Cosby Show regular Geoffrey Owens.

Owens has been described as playing for “Team Ghost” which suggests there will still be those rooting for the drug dealer and could potentially come to his aid in his time of need.

One other person mentioned is Mark Feuerstein of Royal Pains fame, who is going to be portraying a “political operative”.

Power creator Courtney Kemp has already said Ghost will feature in the last five episodes as the writers take viewers through the various suspects who could have shot Ghost.

The truth is going to be revealed when the show returns with fans expected to be getting answers soon.

Reflecting on Ghost’s journey and becoming legitimate, Kemp told Entertainment Weekly the character was “looking to go through the stratosphere”.

She explained: “He believes in himself fully. In a way, we’ve actually weaved Ghost out of the drug business for a really long time, but it’s not until Jason is actually dead in episode nine that it’s really over.

“And that’s what Angela says to him in this episode, she says, ‘You’re finally free. All of those influences in your life are gone, and you can move on and be the version of you that I always wanted you to be.’

“That’s the irony, that he’s actually now the version of himself that Angela would have wanted him to be.’”

She added ominously: “It’s Icarus, right? He flies too close to the son. And that’s part of the imagery that we’re dealing with.”

The last five episodes will be taking their cue from the classic Japanese film Rashomon with the show exploring which of the suspects shot Ghost.

The characters will have conflicting narratives of what happened on the fateful evening before a big reveal.

Kemp promised in an interview with Deadline there would be answers with things getting resolved fairly quickly.

She said: “I don’t have to say much. But I will say we’ve filmed a lot of different things because things get leaked in the Power world all the time, you know.

“It turns out that very often content slips away from us, so we’ve got a lot of different endings and false ending, real endings and truthful endings, all in the can.”

The last five episodes are also likely to be setting up the prequel series Power Book II: Ghost which will feature singer and Umbrella Academy star Mary J. Blige.

So there could potentially be some crossover as the makers get ready to launch the spin-off.
