Prince Charles and Camillas EastEnders appearance teased by BBC in sneak peek
EastEnders have released a trailer for their upcoming Jubilee special in which Prince Charles and Camilla join the cast on Albert Square.
In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the royal couple are set to make an appearance in a one off episode aired on June 2.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will raise a champagne glass to Queen Elizabeth’s 70 years on the throne, to which the couple will be her successors.
The EastEnders residents will host a street party outside the Queen Vic in honour of the royal leader, who is the country’s longest reigning monarch, and the couple will mingle with some of the soap’s most famous faces.
The special episode was shot back in March and the BBC teased parts of the show on Instagram with the caption: “One week to go! We’re all getting royally excited here in Walford! Don’t miss EastEnders all next week on BBC One and BBC iPlayer,” and signed off with the hashtag “Platinum Jubilee”.
In the teaser trailer, fans can see Harvey Monroe, played by Ross Boatman, as he rushes into the Queen Vic pub and urges its guests to “come and see this,” who are Mick and Linda Carter’s “mystery guests”.
Outside, a black car is parked near the Vic and Camilla steps out of the passenger seat to the amazement of the EastEnders cast, who can’t quite believe their eyes.
Charles and Camilla then speak to the iconic faces of Albert Square with the caption: “Welcome to Walford” over the clip.
Patrick Trueman, played by Rudolph Walker, exclaims “amazing” while Sharon Watts, played by Letitia Dean, wondered whether she could “ask Camilla for a favour”.
Martin Fowler, played by Jon Peyton-Price, soppily replied: “It takes a princess to ask a Duchess, doesn’t it?”
In the closing shot, all residents and their special guests can be seen at the street party, raising a toast for the monarch’s milestone achievement.
Linda Carter actress Kellie Bright has spoken about Charles and Camilla’s appearance back in March.
She admitted: “I did think what amazing sports that they are, just willing to do it. I just thought: ‘Wow, they’ve never done anything like this before’.”
