Pussycat Dolls’ Ashley Roberts hits out at Ofcom complaints over raunchy outfits

Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts has hit back at those complaining about the group's uber sexy performances, after watchdog Ofcom confirmed there had been hundreds of complaints.

Ofcom received 68 complaints about The Pussycat Dolls' performance on Saturday Night Takeaway, which saw hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly jokingly censor their outfits with huge cardboard cut-outs.

But, more shockingly, there were 419 angry viewers who complained about the US pop stars' X Factor performance, during which they debuted their new song React.

Now, Ashley, who also hosts alongside Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Heart Breakfast, has hit back at the naysayers defending their outfit choices.

The blonde bombshell said: "We are wearing costumes. And they are sassy and fierce.

"We are owning our femininity and celebrating ourselves as women," she added to The Sun.

Last month, the Dolls – made up of Ashley, Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta and Kimberly Wyatt – officially released their new song React.

In the accompanying music video for React, which has so far racked up more than 15million views on YouTube, the ladies can be seen dancing in water and in front of fire.

Despite a few hundred complaints about their TV shows, the reaction to React and the Pussycat Dolls' return has widely been positive.

Last week, The Pussycat Dolls performed on The One Show, though were hit by a few awkward blunders.

Next month, the five-piece group head out on a tour which spans three continents.

Starting out in Dublin, they will hit up places such as Cardiff, Glasgow and London before heading to Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines and Japan.
