Renee Zellweger says she was mistaken for wearing prosthetic wrinkles as she played Judy Garland during first TV interview in six years – The Sun

RENEE Zellweger revealed that the punishing schedule of filming Judy, about the last year of the life of Judy Garland, took its toll on her looks.

She told Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday that the make-up artist didn't realise he hadn't already applied wrinkles to her face, as the shoot went on.

"He said, 'you got everything?'" Renee revealed of her chat with the prosthetic make-up artist, "I said 'Yes yes….and gasped…no! We didn't do my [aging] lines."

The star – who was giving her first television interview in six years – said that the make-up artist had squinted and then replied, "so we haven't!" which Renee kept her sense of humour about.

She is already being tipped for Oscars success for her portrayal of Judy Garland in the biopic and said that her stage fright in a singing scene was real.

"That was REAL. Real audience at Hackney Empire," she said.

Judy documents the last year of Garland's life when she did a series of concerts in London.

"You see how extraordinary she really was," said Renee of the Hollywood icon.

"She's really remarkable. One in a million," she added.

It's the notoriously private Bridget Jones star's first television interview in six years, and she looked stunning in a black trouser suit which featured cigarette trousers.

She didn't miss an opportunity to bust out some moves to One Direction as it was played as she entered the studio.

The star took a break from the public eye before returning with Netflix thriller What/If.

Judy is directed by Rupert Goold and is scheduled for release in the United States on 27 September and the UK on 4th October.
