Ridley fans slam Adrian Dunbar drama as 'predictable' and like 'watching paint dry' | The Sun
VIEWERS were left seriously unimpressed by ITV’s latest ‘snooze fest’ drama Ridley.
The series offering stars Line of Duty’s Adrian Dunbar as Ridley and follows the retired detective as he returns to his old precinct to consult on an unsolved cold case.
The ITV series was co-created by Paul Matthew Thompson and Jonathan Fisher.
But as the show made its debut, many viewers were quick to take to social media to express their dismay over the programme.
One viewer slammed the apparent lack of interesting content in the series, writing: “#Ridley next week I’m decorating…watching paint dry has more allure.”
A fellow watcher added: “Watching #Ridley , once again, the usual boring, predictable box ticking exercise from ITV. Why are they always the same types of characters? Was hoping for something more original. They've come up with some right garbage this year.”

A third agreed stating: “The writing on #Ridley is atrociously formulaic and follows the #Columbo school of crime writing where the murderer is always the first person the detective speaks to after the murder. Disappointing.”
One simply declared it a ‘snooze fest’.
Adrian, 64, play the titular character, who is called on by his ex-colleague and newly promoted DI Carol Farman to assist on a missing persons case that remains unsolved after 13 years.
Despite many viewers complaining over the lack of originality, fans of the show expressed their shock and delight at Adrian’s hidden talent.
