CW series Riverdale will be making a comeback at some point after it was brought to an unexpected close due to the coronavirus outbreak. Season five got the green light earlier in the year much to the excitement of fans but this was short-lived when the COVID-19 pandemic forced production to shut down early. Also, actor Skeet Ulrich announced he was bowing out of the series after four seasons.
When is Skeet Ulrich leaving Riverdale?
In a candid Instagram Live video, Ulrich said: “I’m leaving Riverdale because I got bored creatively. How’s that? That’s the most honest answer.”
There’s no word yet on when the Scream actor will be departing from Riverdale with much uncertainty about when production is going to commence on season five.
Season four was prematurely ended with The CW airing all the finished episodes. However, there were a handful of instalments which weren’t completed filming before the shutdown.
The programme-makers have confirmed these episodes will be forming the beginning of season five.

Speaking to TV Line about Ulrich’s exit, along with Marisol Nichols who also confirmed she was leaving Riverdale, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said: “No, they’ll be back for those.
“When this all went down, I reached out to all of the cast, and I reached out to Marisol and Skeet and said that we haven’t finished those stories, and we want to make sure that you guys have great sendoffs.
“I think Marisol knew what Hermione was going to do. I don’t think Skeet knew yet what F.P. was going to do.
“The truth of it is, and this isn’t a spoiler, but neither Hermione nor F.P. are being killed.”
He added: “So my hope is that they are a part of Riverdale in a real way as long as there’s a Riverdale.”
From his words, it sounds like Ulrich and Nichols will be leaving in season five now, perhaps in the early part of the series.
Also, it appears the door has been left open for Ulrich to make a return should be want to.
There’s no word yet on why or how FP will be leaving the show but given this is Riverdale, it’s likely to be explosive.
Ulrich has been playing the leader of the Riverdale gang the Southside Serpents since season one.
He’s often had a fractured relationship with his family and particularly his son Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse).
The pair haven’t always seen eye-to-eye but finally the two are apparently on the same side with FP encouraging his son to go to prestigious school Stonewall Prep.
Also, he has reformed his rough-cut image after becoming Riverdale’s sheriff.

Sprouse has weighed in Ulrich’s decision, telling Variety: “I think it’s easy, as an actor, especially on a long-term project to start feeling like, creatively, you’re repeating the same motifs or, or whatever it is.
“But in truth, Jughead was a much more prominent character than FP was on the show.
“So, I don’t think I’m really qualified to talk on that because to compare and contrast our two positions is sort of fruitless.”
The star continued: “Skeet’s truly a second father to me, so I’m, like, ride or die for that guy.
“So, anything that makes that guy happy is something that makes me happy.”
