The Repair Shop is back on BBC One and fans are looking forward to seeing what treasures will come to light. In tonight’s episode (January 12), Sonnaz Nooranvary works on a stately chair that was made especially for King George VI’s coronation. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about how old the furniture expert is.

How old is The Repair Shop’s Sonnaz Nooranvary?

The British-Iranian Repair Shop expert is from Dorset and she developed an interest in upholstery after dropping out of university.

She had been studying law, but instead took on an apprenticeship in upholstery at Sunseeker yachts.

The expert now owns her own company, called Sonnaz Limited, and has done so since 2011.

The TV personality keeps her personal life private, so her exact age is not known.

She is believed to be in her mid-30s, making her one of the youngest experts.

She started her apprentice role in 2003 is likely to have been in her late teens or early twenties at the time.

Her job covers all areas, and she has a particular passion for boats.

Her love for the sea developed at a young age as she is believed to have lived on an Iranian Navy merchant ship as a baby.

Nooranvary is on Instagram and she regularly keeps fans updated with her latest projects.

As well as sharing behind the scenes photos from The Repair Shop, she also posts photos of her stunning work outside of the show.

Sharing a photo of a brightly coloured, patterned armchair, she said: “With careful planning and time honoured skills it is so thrilling to see something that has been stored away, well used, or perhaps not in its best shape, totally transformed.

“It never ceases to amaze me how we can take fabric off a roll and using our hands make something beautiful and functional.

“When all of the details that have been laboured over come together and everything is in situ, whether this is soft furnishings or upholstery, there is no better feeling than knowing you’ve thought about everything and the client is happy.” [Sic]

The star also runs a vlog via her YouTube channel and regularly speaks to other Repair Shop stars.

Earlier this month, she welcomed new episodes of The Repair Shop and praised her co-stars for their brilliant work.

She said: “We have new @therepairshop.tv episodes coming up and I can’t wait to see them myself!

“I really enjoy watching my fellow experts items I’ve seen in the barn myself come together beautifully on screen.

“The skill, the editing, the patience, the team work and the reveal.

“I’ve always floated around on benches ever since my first time in the barn back in 2017.

“But now I’m firmly planted outside on a much bigger bench and can make all the noise I like?!

“Although my laugh is still loud enough to get told off every now and then when they are filming inside the barn!

“I think there is one item coming up where I was inside but that is one of my very last items within the barn.

“I keep nice and warm outside too so no worries there.”

Fans took to the comments to share their thoughts on the star’s work.
