Spoilers: What happens next as Gray kills Chantelle in EastEnders?
Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) tragically died in EastEnders tonight (September 18) at the hands of violent husband Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith).
The young woman has been desperately trying to escape Gray for several weeks, but the abuser repeatedly thwarted her plans.
With Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) having suggested a last minute family holiday, she decided to take a chance and accompany her clan — hoping it could lead to her escape.
However, Gray ended up tagging along, and — having overheard her making plans with Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) — he insisted that he, Chantelle, Mia and Mackenzie return home after he staged a burglary at No. 1 Albert Square.
Upon returning home, Chantelle bravely told Gray she was leaving him, and a struggle ensued, as the violent abuser ended up killing her.
Monday’s episode (September 21) seemingly picks up the following day, as Gray is questioned by the police at the station, and Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) and Mitch return to Walford.
Upon doing so, they discover what has happened, and its safe to say there is devastation aplenty.
What’s more, Mitch soon realises something isn’t quite right between Kheerat and Gray.
Therefore, he sets about doing some digging, and he meets with Kheerat — and sets his sights upon Chantelle’s memory box, before demanding to know why he has it.
