Star Wars 9 Rise of Skywalker Obi-Wan Kenobi return – and NOT as a Force ghost?

This is supposed to wrap up all nine movies. Not only that, director JJ Abrams has promised it will honour and involve as many of the legacy Original and Prequel characters and storylines as possible. As well as Luke and the Emperor, fans have already seen Billy Dee Williams as Lando. We’velready had Yoda in The Last Jedi and he’s likely to return again, which leaves two of the biggest characters – Anakin Skywalker and his original master, Obi-Wan.

For once, it might be something different from force ghost.

There are already rumours Abrams is shaking up things by having the spirit of Palpatine possess a willing acolyte (still rumoured to be Matt Smith).

Now a new theory suggests a brilliant way Obi-wan could share a scene with Rey in a wonderful way to link all three trilogies.

Redditor hodor wrote: “Wouldn’t it be awesome if we get to see Ewan McGregor’s Kenobi teaching Rey lightsaber techniques?

“I was thinking to an episode of Rebels where Ahsoka and Ezra are watching an Anakin technique tutorial with a Holocron, and I was thinking about in the Canon comics where it was mentioned that Kenobi had done something similar for Luke to learn and had left recordings in his cabin.

“So…a quick scene of Rey watching him do some cool combat stuff would be a fun easter egg.”

It’s an undeniably neat idea which would allow a variety of ways to restore iconic dead characters to the screen one last time.

Obi-Wan taught Anakin and then mentored and started Luke’s training.  How perfect if he also had a hand in preparing the central character of the Sequel Trilogy.

Ewan McGregor has seemed to make it clear the spin-off Obi-wan movie is buried in the Tattooine sands, so this would be the perfect way for one final crowd-pleasing moment.
