Gorka Marquez hoped to win the Strictly Come Dancing gong as he was in the final for the third time since joining the BBC series. The last time Gorka was in the final he was pipped to the post along with partner Maisie Smith. He no doubt hoped he would lift the Glitterball Trophy with Helen Skelton but appeared crestfallen when Hamza Yassin’s name was announced.
After Hamza was named the winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2022, all of his fellow contestants rushed over to congratulate him.
Helen and Gorka were the last couple to move over to where Hamza and Jowita were standing.
The Countryfile host was seen grabbing hold of Gorka’s hand and pulling him over to the winner.
Viewers were quick to comment on Gorka’s reaction to Hamza’s win, with many claiming he was “fuming”.
Matty asked: “Is gorka not allowed to be upset lol they put their heart and soul into their celebs I’m sure their all gutted #strictly.”
“Look at that face!! Gorka was NOT impressed… at all. Man’s face was screeeeewing!! Come on mate. You can’t win them all. #Vex #Gorka #Strictly,” @DeluxMax tweeted.
Karl predicted: “I’m calling it now. Gorka is going to quit #Strictly before next year.”
Jo added: “Gorka looked heartbroken, bless him. He’s such a great dancer and very unlucky in his finals. #Strictly.”
“#Strictly Girls all danced better especially Fleur …Gorka is fuming,” Joe Mackenzie pointed out.
@theproperKP shared: “Look at Gorka. Nothing says #Strictly Family like a bloke that is absolutely f**king fuming.”
Meanwile, Hamza broke down in tears as he was crowned the winner and paid tribute to his professional partner Jowita.
Tess Daly asked: “Hamza tell us how you are feeling?”
“Words can’t describe how I feel,” Hamza replied. ”I want to thank one person in particular. Jowita, you are an angel disguised as a human being, that’s what you are.
“You are amazing! Thank you to everyone out there for voting for us. This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
“The amazing American choreographer has three bits of advice that I think should be repeated.
“One is surround yourself with people whose eyes light up when they see you come in.
“Two, the top of one mountain is the bottom of the next so keep climbing.
“And three, slowly is the fastest way to get to where you want to be.”
Jowita replied: “I think just so you know anything is possible, anything is possible and he has just proved anything is possible.
“He came here on the show with no dance experience, with pigeon toes and he made it. He worked hard and he made it.’
