Strictly Come Dancing former winner speaks out on ‘dark days’ behind-the-scenes

Jay McGuiness, who won Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, has opened up about the good and bad antics that go on backstage which viewers don’t see. He recalled the “dark days,” which he claims the “crew let happen”.

The Wanted band member won Strictly Come Dancing and lifted the illustrious Glitterball trophy, with professional dancer Aliona Vilani back in 2015.

A jive routine inspired by the film Pulp Fiction was the dance that saw him crowed the 13th winner of the BBC show.

However, according to the star a lot more goes on behind-the-scenes than anyone could imagine.

Jay told The Sun: “Loads more happens on Strictly than is reported, and nearly everything that is reported is not exactly what happened.”

The 2015 winner said that there are a lot of “angry and upset” moments that go under the radar.

He explained: “I’m not going to give out personal secrets but people have dark days and nine times out of 10, the crew and everyone lets it happen and it goes under the radar.

“I can see how when I say that a bunch of people will be like: ‘Everyone’s s***ging! Everyone’s f***ing everyone!’

“But really, most of the stuff is when people are really struggling, or when people are really angry and upset and they try to let everyone have their minute.”

Jay’s comments come after the Strictly Come Dancing 2020 professionals were announced last week.

The celebrities are still unknown, but this year’s professionals will be AJ Pritchard, Aljaž Škorjanec, Amy Dowden, Anton Du Beke, Dianne Buswell and Giovanni Pernice.

As well as; Gorka Marquez, Graziano Di Prima, Janette Manrara, Johannes Radebe, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova, Nancy Xu, Neil Jones, and Oti Mabuse.

Just before the news of the professionals was announced, Strictly Come Dancing favourite Kevin Clifton dropped a bombshell.
