Former Saturday’s star Mollie King stepped onto the dancefloor in 2017 and became one of the contestants to take part in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. She was paired with professional AJ Pritchard, and the duo made it all the way through to the semi-final but was pipped to the post by Joe McFadden. Mollie recently reminisced about her time on the show with Sunday Brunch host Simon Rimmer but discussed her “annoying” habit when watching the series.
Before discussing her involvement in the new Discovery+ series Beauty and the Geek, talk turned to her time on Strictly.
Tim Lovejoy asked: “You were just reminiscing about your times on Strictly, you were on the same series, weren’t you?”
Mollie excitedly replied: “We were, we were!”
Looking back at his favourite memory, Simon explained: “The best nights were, on a Friday, so you do rehearsals in the studio.
“All week, you think you have been doing ok, and then you’d go to the studio and you’d cry because you realise that you are terrible.
“You see all the good ones there, and on the Friday night we would all have dinner in the hotel, that was the best time.”
Adding in a small detail he missed out on, Mollie added: “In our spray tans, what a moment!”
Noticing how much she loved talking about her time on the show, Tim asked: “Is it still one of the best things you have ever done?”
“I did love it!” she began. “I really did, I am that annoying person though, like when I watch it now I’m like, ‘Ooh yeah, I did this, do you want to see my routine of when I did the Tango?’.
“And Stuart is like ‘No, I have seen you do the Tango before!'”
Simon joked: “I have only got a few dances I can do that too, you got further than me.”
During her time on the show, Mollie and AJ were flooded with potential romance rumours, with Claudia Winkleman poking fun at the claims.
Introducing their “romantic Waltz”, Claudia said: “I think it’s about time we all addressed the elephant in the room.”
“What?” Tess Daly asked. “If Mollie and AJ are a couple or not?”
“No,” Claudia responded as an elephant noise sounded. “I mean that elephant in the room,
However, Mollie and AJ firmly denied all rumours of a potential romance and insisted they were really “good friends.”
Mollie announced her pregnancy back in June with a stunning photo of her fiance Stuart Broad kissing her growing belly.
She captioned the image: “Stuart and I are so, so happy to share that we’re expecting a baby later this year! We’re absolutely over the moon.”
Mollie and Stuart have been together on and off since 2012, but he recently popped the question before they announced they were expecting a baby.
Sunday Brunch airs Sunday from 9:30am on Channel 4.
