Susanna Reid hits out at Prince Harry in furious clash with Adil Ray on GMB

Susanna Reid accused Prince Harry of “dragging the Royal family into criticism” as she argued with her co-host Adil Ray on Good Morning Britain today.

The duo were on opposite ends of the spectrum as Adil furiously defended the Duke of Sussex’s right to speak freely about his own family upbringing on his new documentary made with American chat show host Oprah Winfrey.

Yet Susanna, 50, was furiously of the view that Harry’s comments continue to cause issues for the British Royal family and worries about what it will do to the institution.

The new mental health documentary The Me You Can’t See, sees Harry, 36, talking candidly about his struggles growing up and in a new trailer a number of clips show him and Oprah sharing their different experiences.

Following the Duke’s podcast with actor Dax Shepherd in the US which also caused a stir last week, Adil, 47, and Susanna ended up in a tense debate about whether he should really be talking about his family in a negative way at all.

Also speaking to GMB guest and journalist Andrew Pierce, who called Harry using images of his mother's funeral in the documentary as "appalling", Susanna, 50, said: "You're dragging your family into criticism aren't you?

"Anyone who goes into therapy is going to be drawn into a discussion but I'm not sure your parents want to hear that discussion.

And later on in the programme, Susanna insisted the topic was “so personal”.

While the presenter explained that she supports the Duke talking about mental health, she doesn’t think he should be “dragging” his family into it.

“It’s so personal – I absolutely support him talking about mental health,” she said. “I just think when you divulge all the reasons behind that and drag other people into it, you’re dragging other people into it."

But Adil fired back: “The bit about Prince Charles is about 20 seconds, he talks about (the royal family) as a more general thing.

"He doesn't want to be a part of the royal family since he was 20 he's suffering from mental health.

“You can't talk about mental health without talking about your background."
