'The Bachelorette': Cam Says Other Contestants Distanced Themselves From Luke P.

Cam Ayala was sent home on Hannah Brown’s most recent episode of The Bachelorette. Along with Luke P., he had been one of the more polarizing men in the mansion.

In an interview with ET after his exit, Cam revealed that he “got a weird vibe” from Luke P.

“Luke was one of those guys I distanced myself from in the house… I just got a weird vibe from him,” Cam said, adding that he didn’t want to comment on Luke’s character. “He’s a big personality. He’s a former collegiate athlete, so I know he has a very competitive nature… he had a very different approach than the other guys in the house.”

Cam went on to say that he wasn’t alone in getting a weird vibe from Luke P. He said several of the other men distanced themselves as well.

“Several guys [also distanced themselves],” Cam said, noting that he didn’t necessarily hear all of the controversial Luke comments–like why Luke P. thought he solely should be with Hannah B. over the other men.

Cam did say, though, that it was very clear, from the beginning, that Hannah B. and Luke P. had a strong connection.

“Luke was definitely the frontrunner, at least in my mind… we could just kind of tell from the symbolism of getting the first impression rose and crowning him Mr. Right from the first group date,” he said. “He was someone I thought would be the most competition to myself.”

Cam denies that he tried to get a pity rose

The subject of the pity rose, of course, came up, and Cam denies that that’s what he was trying to do.

“No, I never said [pity rose],” Cam told ET. “I don’t feel like pity is anything you’d want. …It seems like a sign of weakness.”

But despite his being sent home over it, Cam doesn’t regret sharing his story with Hannah.

“I wasn’t looking for pity. It was more for transparency moving forward,” he explained.

Additionally, he denies writing letters to Hannah B. or the other men.

“It wasn’t to Hannah, it wasn’t to the guys, and I’ll leave it to that,” he said.

When asked if he was writing letters for the crew he said: “Maybe, maybe not.”

Even though Mike’s the one who told Hannah B. that Cam was trying to get a pity rose, Cam doesn’t harbor any hard feelings for him.

“I just want to kind of squash the beef and move on and hope that he finds love and I find love,” he said.

The Bachelor in Paradise cast is yet to be confirmed but Cam is hopeful of maybe finding love on the beach this summer. If he were to go, he says he already has his eye on Caelynn Miller-Keyes, Demi Burnett, and Hannah Godwin from Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor.

“I was really drawn to Caelynn,” he said. “Demi is a big personality, too. And then there’s Hannah G., the gangster herself. Maybe I’ll come out of my retirement for a freestyle rap battle.”
