The Boys' most outrageous moments from The Deep – from sleazy hook-ups to botched dolphin murders

THE BOYS on Amazon Prime has some of the most outrageous characters in television history – especially underwater Superhero: The Deep.

Played by Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford, the ocean-loving, porpoise-pleasing action hero, is a mixture of comedy idiot and sexual predator.

And from sleazy hook-ups to botched dolphin escape plans that end with the mammal being catapulted out of a car and into the direct line of a truck, he’s definitely the funniest member of The Seven.

Speaking about his character to MTV, actor Chace Crawford said: “We're making fun, obviously, of that privileged male, white guy.”

The Deep’s privileged dopiness is highlighted as he moans to his therapist about being the underappreciated “diversity hire”.

In case you missed all that the Deep has to offer, here’s a recap of his most outrageous moments from season one and even a cheeky one from season two.

Dolphin rescue

The Deep, or Kevin to use his normal name, is at one in the ocean and can even communicate with sea creatures.

In possibly the most hilarious scene of the series, he rescues a Dolphin from the clutches of a sea centre in order to set it free back into the water.

Tied up safely in the back of a van, disaster strikes when he applies a sudden break to the wheels and the dolphin flies in front of him, breaking the front glass of the truck and landing on the road.

The dolphin goes through the air in slow-motion as the two look at each other and then to make things just that touch more gross, a lorry drives over her and she becomes fishy roadkill.

Sexually assaults Annie

Starlight is introduced to The Seven and Annie – aka Starlight – is introduced to The Deep.

After admitting she had a crush on him growing up, he uses it to his advantage and sexually harasses her demanding oral sex.

Later in the series Annie speaks up and tells the world about what happened and how her fellow superhero sexually assaulted her.

Crawford said his character is reminiscent of Zoolander, not Weinstein. “He’s, essentially, too stupid to understand that his actions have consequences,” he says.

This #metoo moment results in The Deep being sent to Ohio and being ostracised from The Seven.

The Deep is sexually assaulted

While in Ohio, it feels like karma intervenes to balance The Deep when he hooks up with a girl with sexually aggressive fish fetish.

Truly uncomfortable to watch, she puts her hands inside the gills either side of his washboard abs and pounces.

The one-night-stand fingers him with such enthusiasm that it is viscerally upsetting to view.

“It was the most uncomfortable scene ever,” Crawford says, describing the moment. “It literally made me feel kind of nauseous, I'm not going to lie.

“It was just so weird and uncomfortable. I could not have gotten out of there faster that day. So, yeah. It was pretty wild.”

He tries to save a lobster

The Deep is an idiot – which doesn't excuse his predatory tendencies when it comes to women – it's more of a statement.

However, he does love all sea creatures and after his sexual assault he hits rock bottom and shaves all his hair off while listening to R.E.M's Everybody Hurts he's in a dark place.

Later on while in the supermarket, he connects with a lobster who is stuck in a tank awaiting certain death.

Speaking through the glass, The Deep assures him he's going to get him out and asks the shop keeper to fish him out.

Just as it seems he's about to finally save a friend in need, the crustacean is butchered.

Killer whale

Season two of The Boys doesn't drop on screens until 4th September but Amazon Prime has wetted our proverbial appetites with a very tasty trailer.

In amongst the blood, guts and gore, one of the stand out moments is when The Boys are seen heading towards a massive whale which has The Deep on its back.

It's not entirely clear how it happens but the boat goes through the whale and The Boys are left in a red mass of fish guts.

The Deep probably thought he was about to finally be in charge and show the bad guys (?) who's boss but it backfires once again.

The Boys season one is available to stream on Amazon Prime, now.
