The Masked Singer: Harlequin ‘rumbled’ as member of the Royal family in ITV show first
Masked Singer: Sophie Ellis-Bextor is revealed as Alien
Harlequin will feature in the second heat of The Masked Singer tonight, giving their debut performance on the ITV competition show. They are just one of 12 new characters taking part in season two, with week one of the programme exposing Alien as chart-topper Sophie Ellis-Bextor, 41. With the contestant known by dictionary definition as a comical servant who featured in royal performances, could a member of the monarchy be participating in the world’s biggest game of Guess Who? If so, this would make it the first time a member of the Royal family has ever taken part in any franchise from around the globe.
Speaking to Express.co.uk and other publications, presenter of the spin-off web-series Behind The Mask Will Njobvu teased a royal contestant could be featured in the new season.
“I couldn’t believe the names I saw. I am a super fan of this show but you just keep on getting surprised.
“It literally could be anyone. It could be anybody. It could be a royal. You just don’t know,” the newcomer explained.
With the character of Harlequin having connections to the monarch, could this be a hint someone linked to the Royal family is going to showcase their vocal talents?
Fans did think the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, 39, could have been swan last weekend, so it could have been they were on the right lines.

With theories and predictions as to who could be competing going into overdrive, judge Jonathan Ross, 60, has addressed what could be in store for viewers this season.
The chat show host said: “To see those costumes come out for the first time for all of us, we got the best seats in the house.
“It’s such a lovely job and they put so much work into all the costumes. Amazingly, and I think I can speak for everyone here, the people within the costumes were even bigger and better than the first series.
“The first series I thought they did an amazing job but this time, they really have excelled themselves,” he continued.

“You will not believe some of the surprises we have in store for you, they are amazing,” the panellist added.
Jonathan then said: “Obviously we’ve got some world-class singers performing, but some people who were signing you wouldn’t think necessarily think of as a singer.
“In fact, you might never have heard them sing before and yet everyone on the show sounds like a professional singer.
“I think there are some even bigger surprises in store for this series and I would be amazed [if anyone guessed correctly].”

“No one is going to get a full house, this time. Even right up to the last minute, there a couple who are going to leave people completely stumped,” Jonathan explained.
Could this be yet another indicator someone from the Royal family is taking part as no one from the monarchy has ever showcased their vocal talents before?
Following the reveal of which characters would be taking part in the latest season, each quirky star was given a clue to go with their picture.
For Harlequin, the puzzle piece read: “Could be a joker in the pack or a stunning singer,” indicating the contestant has two aces of their set to play.
Saturday night’s episode will see five more characters sing for their survival in the competition alongside Harlequin.
These include celebrities hiding inside the costumes of Blob, Viking, Seahorse, Grandfather Clock and Bush Baby.
After all six have performed for the judges, the three weakest singers will find themselves at the peril of the panel.
With only two spots available in the third heat of the competition, who will the judges get rid of next?
The Masked Singer continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
