This Morning in huge blunder as star says the Queen had Covid – as Dermot O'Leary points out error

THIS Morning fans were alarmed today when one of its stars said the Queen had Covid.

Former Coronation Street actress Nicola Thorp suffered an unfortunate slip-up by saying the 95-year-old monarch has recovered from the disease.

Speaking about The Queen during This Morning's news review, she said: "She's just recovered from Covid don't forget."

One viewer spluttered: "Since when did the Queen have covid?" while another asked: "The Queen had covid?"

A third tweeted: "Have I missed something Nicola, when did the Queen have Covid?"

The 33-year-old actress and broadcaster appeared to get mixed up with Prince Charles and Camilla, who did both test positive.

This Morning's Dermot O'Leary, who is hosting the show with Alison Hammond while Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are on a half-term break, corrected the error.

Dermot, 48, said: "Just one correction Nicola. I think you said the Queen had Covid. Obviously Prince Charles had Covid."

She gasped: "Sorry. Sorry. Of course, Prince Charles had Covid. I'm so sorry, imagine that."

The blunder came while the show was discussing the Queen returning to Royal duties amid the ongoing storm surrounding her son Prince Andrew.

Asked about teachers being banned from being subjective in class, she joked: "We're talking about the truth here.

"I realise that's very rich from someone who just said that the Queen had Covid when she didn't."

Nicola was a big star on Coronation Street as evil Pat Phelan's daughter, who was also called Nicola.

She regularly appears on This Morning talking about the news headlines and memorably clashed with Piers Morgan during an appearance on Good Morning Britain in 2018.
