UCP Hires Scott Nemes as Head of Development and Programming

Exec steps in for Elise Henderson, who exited the studio earlier this year

Universal Content Productions has named Scott Nemes executive vice president of development and current programming, the studio announced on Monday.

The executive, who most recently oversaw the television division at Makeready, will now lead all programming for the NBCUniversal-owned studio, reporting directly to UCP president Dawn Olmstead. He steps in for Elise Henderson, who departed UCP to lead MRC Television earlier this year.

Nemes will report directly to Olmstead, with whom he previously worked with at Olmstead’s Adelstein-Parouse Productions.

At Makeready, where he oversaw all aspects of television for the startup studio, Nemes most recently completed production on a pilot for Showtime called “Hombre” and executive produced Snapchat’s first scripted series “Class of Lies.”

He previously served as senior vice president at Cinemax, where he helped launch the rebrand of HBO’s sister network and oversaw primetime series such as “Strike Back,” “Banshee,” “The Knick,” “Outcast,” “Quarry” and the current series “Warrior.” He’s also held roles at the film financing/production company The Film Department and at Immortal Entertainment.
