Vigil will see what happens after a mysterious death occurs onboard a nuclear submarine. A detective is going to be at the heart of the investigation but will find herself at loggerheads with the Royal Navy and the British security services. Who is in the cast of Vigil?
DCI Amy Silva – Suranne Jones
Starring as the lead detective DCI Amy Silva is actress Suranne Jones.
She will be trying to keep everyone both on land and at sea happy as she delves into the investigation.
Actress Jones is a well-known face when it comes to British television, having first appeared in Coronation Street as Karen McDonald.
Since then, Jones has been in Gentleman Jack, Doctor Foster, Scott and Bailey and most recently, I Am Victoria.
Craig Burke – Martin Compston
Starring alongside Jones is actor Martin Compston who portrays Craig Burke.
Compston’s character is an underwater expert whose job is to make sure that HMS Vigil remains on its navigational track.
The Scottish actor is best known for his role as DS Steve Arnott in BBC drama Line of Duty.
He has also been in Sweet Sixteen, The Wee Man, Monarch of the Glen and The Nest.
DS Kirsten Longacre – Rose Leslie
Actress Rose Leslie has starred in two of the world’s biggest dramas.
The first being ITV’s Downton Abbey as former housemaid Gwen Dawson.
The second being HBO’s fantasy series Game of Thrones as Ygritte, the love interest of Jon Snow who was played by Kit Harrington, the actress’ real-life husband.
In Vigil, Leslie will play DS Kirsten Longacre who is leading the investigation on land and is the girlfriend of DCI Silva.

Glover – Shaun Evans
Another famous face in the BBC drama is 41-year-old actor Shaun Evans.
He will play a character called Glover, who is HMS Vigili’s Coxswain, which means he is in charge of its navigation and steering.
Actor Evans is well known for playing a young Endeavour Morse in the ITV drama series Endeavour.
Some of his other work includes The Take, Wreckers and Cashback.
But if you’re not willing to wait for the entirety of the series to come out on BBC One, you can watch it on BBC iPlayer once the show premieres.
