Outlander season six is in production and fans are excited to see Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) return. The new season will be based on the book A Breath of Snow and Ashes, and the cast are looking forward to introducing new characters. Actor Heughan gave fans some insight into what will happen between Jamie and the Christies.

What will Jamie Fraser think of the Christies?

Back in March 2021, the creators of the historical drama series announced new casting for the sixth season.

Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds), Tom Christie (Mark Lewis) and Allan Christie (Alexander Vlahos) have all joined the cast.

The family appears in the books by Diana Gabaldon and they directly influence the lives of Jamie and Claire.

Malva is Tom’s niece whom he raised as a child and she forms a bond with female protagonist, Claire.

However, she gets a little too involved in Claire’s personal life and causes plenty of drama.

Tom and Jamie already know each other from Ardsmuir, and Heughan delved deeper into their connection.

In a video interview with Starz, he said: “The thing we are most excited about this season?

“The Christie family are sort of a blast from Jamie’s past.” He then raised an eyebrow at the camera.

His co-stars mentioned there would be lots of new characters and relationships in the upcoming season.

Tom had also been a prisoner with Jamie following the Jacobite Uprising in season three.

There will most likely be plenty of drama as the Protestant brings his family to Fraser’s Ridge.

They are going to shake up life for many characters, particularly as Malva starts an apprenticeship with Claire.

Fans have taken to Reddit to discuss how the series will introduce the Christies and their storyline.

One said: “How are they going to introduce Christies though? Malva’s place is already taken by Marsli. Maybe they will have to send Fergus and Marsli away first so that they can introduce Christies…”

Another responded: “Thomas Christie plays an important part later and so do Malva and Allen. I remember Matt Roberts saying that just because they skipped some things in the book, it doesn’t mean we won’t still see them.”

A third said: “I’m really interested to see how the show does the Christie storyline! I really liked the plot arc in the book.

“I always enjoy seeing someone who is a foil to Jamie’s “God among men” persona and hopefully it will mean we also get some Roger ministering scenes.”

They are keen to find out what key moments involving the Christies will be kept in for the TV adaptation.

In the books, Malva turns against her uncle and Allan in a tragic way.

Malva actress Reynolds is on Instagram and she shared a behind the scenes video from the season six set.

She said: “BTS fun with the woman herself @caitrionabalfe ! We’re in for a ride. Can’t wait to share my Malva with you all.”

One fan responded: “Eeeeeep cannot wait to see u causing mayhem,” while another said: “Nothing but respect for my Malva.”
