What’s New on Netflix This Week?
Sure, there’s plenty of good TV on at the moment. And a fair few decent movies showing at the cinema. But for pure ease, convenience and quality, it’s tricky to look past streaming services like Netflix for your entertainment, isn’t it?
Whether it’s a quick hour-long blast of comedy before bed on a school night, the new Scarlett Johansson film to enjoy on a Friday night or a festive flick to curl up with on a Sunday afternoon, Netflix has got you covered this week…
Here are the highlights of each day’s new releases:
Monday December 2nd
Team Kaylie (Part 2) – The first five-episode run of Team Kaylie is already up on Netflix. If you (or your kids) have been watching it, you may have wondered where the rest of the series is. Well, it seems that Netty are releasing it in four segments. It stars Bryana Salaz, Symera Jackson, Rosa Blasi and Alison Fernandez and centres around a spoilt teen billionaire celeb who gets a community sentence and serves it in an adventure camp in the wilderness.
It's not likely to win any Emmys, but younger teens might get a kick out of it.
David Walliams confirms he's in talks to bring Little Britain back to our TV screens
Gavin and Stacey star Alison Steadman says Christmas special was 'like a family reunion' – EXCLUSIVE
Tuesday December 3rd
Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah – This one-off comedy special from the Girls Trip star answers this question… ‘What do you mean you’re black and you’re having a bar mitzvah, Tiffany?’
That’s right, Ms. Haddish has just discovered she’s part Jewish. She tells everyone how she found out, what it means and how’s she’s living her life now she knows. In, obviously, a very funny way indeed.
Wednesday December 4th
The Road to Love – This Colombian romantic comedy-drama series stars Katherine Escobar Farfán and has a rather intriguing premise… What happens when a 16 year-old girl gets kicked out of her family home after a row with her dad? Well, in the Road to Love she decides to become a lorry driver.
We just can't believe there’s never been a TV show made about it before.
Thursday December 5th
A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby – It's nearly Christmas, so Netflix has another one of their 'A Christmas Prince' movies out. This is the third one, after A Christmas Prince and A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding. Here's how Netflix describe this third film in the trilogy:
"It’s Christmastime in Aldovia, and a royal baby is on the way. Queen Amber (Rose McIver) and King Richard (Ben Lamb) are getting ready to take some time off to prepare for their first child’s arrival, but first, they have to host King Tai (Kevin Shen) and Queen Ming (Momo Yeung) of Penglia to renew a 600-year-old sacred truce.
"When a snowstorm hits on Christmas Eve and the priceless treaty goes missing, peace is jeopardized and an ancient curse looms. Amber will have to figure out who the thief is before the clock strikes midnight, for the safety of her family and the kingdom.
Friday December 6th
Marriage Story – Director Noah Baumbach (The Squid and the Whale, Greenberg) presents a Netflix Original film starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver as a couple that are slowly drifting apart and decide to divorce.
It also features the likes of Laura Dern, Ray Liotta and Alan Alda and has won a few awards already, as well as caused plenty of critics to gush. So it sounds like this brand new comedy-drama is probably worth checking out on Friday.
Saturday December 7th
Insidious: The Last Key – If you like jumps and frights, this schlocky fourth instalment in the Insidious series of horror movies is worth a couple of hours of your time. It’s no classic, but it gets the job done.

Sunday December 8th
Saaho – This all-action Hindi crime thriller is some 2 hours 50 minutes long, so you may need to block out some time in your diary. If you’re looking for an earnest bang-crash-wallop action flick, it’s worth a watch.
The set pieces don’t let the audience down, you can really see where the huge budget was spent (Saaho is the most expensive Bollywood film ever made). Just don’t expect a great script or any award-winning acting.
And those are just the highlights… There’s plenty more coming up over the next seven days on Netflix.
Have fun watching!
