A 12-year-old girl in California has been arrested for allegedly going on an arson spree that sparked four blazes, authorities said.
The girl, who has not been identified because she’s a minor, allegedly set the fires intentionally between 10:22 a.m. and 7:28 p.m. Friday in Berkeley, CBS San Francisco reported.
It started with a small grass fire that neighbors were able to extinguish near La Vereda Road, the outlet reported.
Around four hours later, another grass fire was reported in a grassy area nearby on Cedar Path, officials said.
While crews responded to the blaze, they were notified about another fire involving dried leaves back on La Vereda Road, the outlet reported.
Then around 7:30 p.m., there was a structure fire around the block on Cedar Street, police said.
Police said no one was injured and they later tracked down the 12-year-old suspect.
“Thanks to the quick action and reporting of neighbors, fires were able to be extinguished and a suspect later apprehended,” police said, SF Gate reported.
“During the warmer months, we must all remain alert of the dangers of fire during this period of increased fire risk.”
