Body found in freezer after wife’s death may have been there for 11 years: cops

A Utah man’s body was found in his deceased wife’s freezer — and it may have been there for up to 11 years, police said.

Paul Edwards Mathers’ remains were found intact — along with the body of his wife, Jeanne Souron-Mathers, 75 — during a welfare check in her Remington Park apartment, according to Tooele Police Department.

Foul play is suspected in the 69-year-old husband’s death, though an autopsy wasn’t able to determine a cause of death, authorities said.

Police were also unable to nail down who killed him — or how long his body had been stuffed in a freezer.

But based on interviews with neighbors, he may have been there for as long as 11 years, police said.

His wife’s death isn’t considered suspicious — and it’s not known whether she played a role in her husband’s demise, authorities said.

She had lived in the building about 25 miles west of Salt Lake City since 2007. It was unclear whether the husband had ever been reported missing.
