Bungling police failed to stop ‘monster’ from setting mother-in-law alight despite six warnings – The Sun

BUNGLING cops failed to stop a “monster” from setting his mother-in-law alight despite the family alerting police six times.

Kieren Lynch, 50, murdered Jennifer Cronin, 72, in a petrol attack in her back garden and also burned himself to death.

Cocaine abuser Lynch set her on fire after his estranged wife Susan asked for a divorce.

The brickie had already bombarded the family with calls and messages but was not arrested.

A council probe found Essex Police were called six times, including a warning he could harm Jennifer the day he killed her in Benfleet in 2018.

An earlier police conduct inquiry was also critical.

The force said it had already made procedure improvements and “aided learning” for eight cops.
