Elon Musk rips ‘moron’ coronavirus scientist who resigned ‘after breaking lockdown rules to meet his married lover’ – The Sun

ELON Musk has ridiculed the British scientist who ordered a lockdown of the United Kingdom — but flouted social distancing guidelines to meet with his married lover.

Musk tweeted on Tuesday that Neil Ferguson, a 51-year-old professor and top scientist in the UK government, was a “tool” after he allowed Antonia Staats, 38, to visit him at his home.

Ferguson had led the team at Imperial College London that handed a bombshell piece of research to the government that prompted the nationwide lockdown.

The team’s findings indicated that failing to take drastic action amid the outbreak could cause 250,000 deaths and National Health Service (NHS) to be overwhelmed.

Last week, Ferguson warned lifting the lockdown too early could risk an additional 100,000 deaths.

But despite this, he still allowed his married girlfriend who has children into his home at least twice — and Ferguson ended up resigning because of the scandal.

Musk, the billionaire founder of SpaceX who recently had a child of his own, tweeted that “something more should be done” about Ferguson.

“This guy has caused massive strife to the world with his absurdly fake ‘science,’” Musk wrote online.

His tweets came in response to a post that read: Hey @neil_ferguson: F**k you. You shut down the world but ignored the lockdown to fuck a married woman? How’s that for tone?"

Ferguson accepted he had made an "error of judgment and took the wrong course of action.”

"I have therefore stepped back from my involvement in Sage [the government's Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies]," he told The Telegraph.

"I acted in the belief that I was immune, having tested positive for coronavirus, and completely isolated myself for almost two weeks after developing symptoms.”

"I deeply regret any undermining of the clear messages around the continued need for social distancing to control this devastating epidemic.”

Ferguson continued: "The government guidance is unequivocal, and is there to protect all of us."

Musk has publicly come out against social distancing guidelines, and last week tweeted: “FREE AMERICA NOW.”

The 48-year-old shared an op-ed which questioned whether stay-at-home orders at saving lives, and added: "Give people their freedom back!"

Musk then congratulated Texas for reopening businesses, and added in another tweeted that although reopening should be done with "care & appropriate protection" the public should not be put under "de facto house arrest.”

One follower commented: "The scariest thing about this pandemic is not the virus itself, it’s seeing American so easily bow down & give up their blood bought freedom to corrupt politicians who promise them safety."

Musk responded: "True."

In the US, more than 72,000 people have died from the coronavirus and President Donald Trump recently said it’s “possible” more Americans will die as states reopen businesses.
