England have had an eventful first half in their pivotal Rugby World Cup game against Argentina in Japan, cheered on by thousands of English fans who have made the 6,000-mile journey.

After an early penalty by the Pumas, winger Jonny May scored a try which Owen Farrell then failed to convert.

Argentina then made things even harder for themselves after a high tackle by Tomas Lavanini on England’s fly-half and captain Farrell reduced the Pumas to 14 men.

Full back Elliot Daly then took advantage of the extra man by scoring a second England try before Ben Youngs added a third.

The only black spot on England’s half has been Farrell’s kicking after he failed to convert all four of England’s kicks.
