Unhappy meal! Furious Michigan mom makes horror find in McDonald’s Happy Meal and says ‘the amount of rage that went through me I have never experienced’
- Dawn Paret of Michigan shared a photo of a box cutter that she allegedly found inside her two-year-old child’s Happy Meal from McDonald’s
- Another Michigan mom Kayla Almashy said she also found a box cutter in her child’s meal several weeks ago at a different McDonald’s nearby
- Police and McDonald’s have said they have launched an investigation
A Michigan mom is not ‘loving it’ after she found a box cutter in her child’s Happy Meal from McDonald’s as another parent claims the same thing happened to her.
Dawn Paret shared photos on Facebook of the bright yellow box cutter she says her 7-year-old daughter found inside her Happy Meal on Sunday in Warren, Michigan.
‘The amount of worry and rage that went through me – I have never experienced,’ Paret said in her Facebook post, which has received dozens of comments.
Shockingly, another Michigan mother – Kayla Almashy – told WXYZ that she too found a box cutter inside her child’s Happy Meal three weeks ago at a different location.
‘My baby, like she always says, “Mama, will you open my toy” So, she went to give me the toy, and when I grabbed it, it was a box cutter,’ Almashy said. ‘I was blown away.’

McDonald’s said in a statement that they have launched an investigation into the claims
Paret spoke with WXYZ and said she was shocked and angered that one of her children could have been hurt if the box cutter ended up in the wrong hands.
‘Anything could have happened, and that’s what’s scary,’ Paret said.
‘She opened up the box looking for the toy, and he was getting the 2-year-old set up. She turned around, looked at him, held it out and said, “Dad, what is this?”‘
In her Facebook post – in which she attached pictures of the box cutters – Paret said she was thankful it was her seven year old instead of her two-year-old.
The mom’s post has received dozens of comments from other disgusted parents who urged her to call corporate and to contact a lawyer.
‘Call the company. Record them. See what they say AND call a lawyer. Immediately,’ one person wrote under Paret’s status.
‘I’m so glad nothing happened to your girls,’ another added. ‘How scary!’
The mom said she reached out to police and that they are investigating.
Paret is still desperate for answers, however.
‘McDonald’s I need an answer as to WHY and HOW a box cutter ended up in the bottom of our daughter’s happy meal,’ Paret wrote.
‘I understand accidents happen. It’s just. … I need to know how this happened exactly,’ the horrified mother said.

‘My baby, like she always says, “Mama, will you open my toy” So, she went to give me the toy, and when I grabbed it, it was a box cutter,’ Almashy said. ‘I was blown away’
After hearing Paret’s story, Almashy said she felt the need to come forward.
She picked up food from a McDonald’s in Brighton – just about 40 minutes away from the restaurant Paret ordered from -three weeks ago.
The mother said she immediately called the restaurant to look for answers but received almost no real answers.
‘I just wanted some type of explanation. But there was nothing that he could give me, other than he said, “Do you want a free apple pie or cookie?”‘ Almashy said.
According to the two women, restaurant owners said they have a box inside their stores that is used as a ‘catch all’ for random items in the kitchen.
‘They basically just said that they have a catch-all box that’s a Happy Meal box, and someone must have just accidentally grabbed it,’ Paret said.
The moms are now urging other parents to exercise extreme caution and check their kids’ Happy Meals in the future.
‘That’s why I brought it to Facebook, not to bash McDonald’s, but it was to bring other parents to be more aware to check their kids’ meals because I didn’t,’ Almashy said.
