WHEN a parking row with her neighbours escalated, mum-of-two Shahina Jones felt she had no choice but to call the police.
But the 40-year-old was left fearing for her and her children’s lives after one of the cops that attended her home, PC Jonathan Simon, began stalking her – calling at her workplace, spying on her through CCTV and making her life a living hell.
Simon’s relentless campaign of harassment lasted for nearly a year until he was finally dismissed from the force and convicted of stalking.
Now, Shahina has bravely spoken out in a desperate bid to warn other women of Simon, 44, from London, and encourage other victims to come forward.
Now a stay-at-home mum, she says: “For a very long time, Jonathan terrorised me daily and left me terrified to leave the house.
“Although I know it ruined his life to lose his job, he narrowly avoided jail time. It wasn’t justice for me.

In May 2021, Shahina had an ongoing dispute with her neighbours over parking.
After calling for help, two officers from Metropolitan police attended her home. One of them was PC Simon.
Shahina says: “I had two young children and was on the verge of a mental breakdown.
“Being a single mother in a rough neighbourhood was so hard and I’d become severely depressed.

8“I let Jonathan and his partner inside my flat. I was a mess, and cried to them about how worried I was for my safety.
“Jonathan was very professional, told me to fill out a form and that he’d log my case. Then, they both left.”
But later that day, Simon returned to Shahina’s house, alone, claiming he wanted to help her with her case again.

Shahina says: “As he sat down next to me on the sofa, I felt safe. He was a policeman after all.
“He took notes of all the incidents on a notepad and was very supportive.
“Soon he held my shoulder as I fell apart. Then he told me to take my top off so he could give me a massage.
“Before I knew it, he was touching me all over. Feeling overwhelmed and upset, I couldn’t think straight.
“In such a desperate situation, I accepted his advances, and one thing led to another. It all happened so fast.”
The next day, Simon called Shahina after retrieving her number from the police form she’d filled out.
For months, Simon visited Shahina and took advantage of her whilst she was extremely vulnerable and in the worst place mentally.
Shahina says: “For months I trusted him, and he made me feel like he was my hero. I felt seen and heard.
“But as time went on, he continually changed every conversation into something sexual and it really bothered me.
“Then one day I didn’t have money to fix my broken car and he suggested I got into prostitution.

“I thought he was joking but he sent me links of actual websites for sex workers, suggested clients for me, and told me how much money I could make.
“I was disgusted and realised what a vile, horrible man he was. I blocked his number and never wanted to hear from him again.”
But, straight after, in July 2021, Simon phoned Shahina from his police work phone, begging her to unblock him.
Horrified, she hung up, and after that, he called her constantly from work.
Shahina says: “Soon he began knocking on my door whilst on duty, claiming to do welfare checks.
“Once, he whispered how he’d missed me. I was terrified and would slam the door.”
Every day, Simon waited outside Shahina’s home unannounced in his work uniform.
Some days, he slowly drove by the house in his police car, watching her.
Shahina says: “I worried for mine and my kids. I thought he’d hurt us. I felt helpless, weak, and alone.”
As his drive-bys increased, Simon began calling again from his phone at Met police, claiming he was watching Shahina through CCTV on his work computer.
He showed up at shopping centres and car parks, begging her to give him a hug.
Shahina says: “For months I screamed and cried for him to leave me alone and that I’d report him for harassment.
“My life had become a living hell, and I worried he’d hurt me. I wanted to report him to the police, but he was the police.

"I kept thinking how Jonathan had a gun, and access to weapons, and probably knew bad people.
“My depression worsened, and I became a recluse, barely able to leave the house unless it was to work.”
Then in April 2023, Simon came to the law office where Shahina worked as a customer services assistant.
He told her boss Shahina had left a window unlocked at her flat.
Shahina says: “Again, in his uniform on duty, Jonathan thought he could do whatever he wanted.
“But, I knew I didn’t leave anything unlocked. It was a ploy to get me home and I reckon he’d faked a break in.
“Petrified, I hid behind my desk whilst my boss told him I wasn’t there. I then called my neighbours and they told me Jonathan had been lurking around.
“Thankfully my kids were at school so I kept them there.
“I finally reached my breaking point and soon as I finished work, I plucked up the courage to go to the police station.”
That day Shahina bravely told the police everything and to her surprise, they listened and believed every word.
Shahina says: “They didn’t give Jonathan any special treatment, and days later they arrested him.
“After that I realised how Jonathan had taken advantage of me when I was at my most vulnerable.

“I wasn’t his girlfriend, his fling, or even his friend. I was his prey. He abused his position of power to groom me at the worst stage of my life.
“Then he terrorised me for nearly a year and left me feeling isolated and scared.”
In June 2023 PC Jonathan Simon, 44, was found guilty of stalking at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and was ordered to stay away from Shahina indefinitely.
At a misconduct hearing, he was dismissed from the Metropolitan police force.
Simon was given a suspended sentence of 16 weeks and community service.

Shahina says: “He should’ve been sent to prison. I’d never felt so let down. He’d been a police officer for 10 years.
“Now I’m just trying to move forward with my life and be the best mum I can be.”
