Incredible moment young man who was kidnapped as a toddler was finally reunited with his family after 22 years

THIS is the moment a young man who was kidnapped as a toddler has finally been reunited with his family after a painful 22 years apart.

Zhang Jinhua, 24, was found living under the name Xu Hui, which was given to him by his foster family following his abduction and sale in October 1995.

Like countless other children he had been human trafficked from his hometown of Guangzhou, capital of South China’s Guangdong Province.

One day a stranger pounced on him as he was wandering around outside with his sister, Zhang Xuemin.

Xuemin, who was aged four at the time, says she still regrets taking her little brother out that day.

She felt  he might not have been kidnapped if he had just stayed at home.

Jinhua does not recall the face of the man who took him, and he was clueless when he was sold to the couple in Guangdong’s rural Lufeng city.

Despite having a good childhood and caring foster parents, Jinhua said he started dreaming about meeting his biological family once more after his foster mum told him the truth about where he came from when he was 10 years old.

During his disappearance, the Zhang family had also been spending years searching for him, until they finally turned to China’s now famous NGO Baobei Huijia – Mandarin for "baby come home" – in 2009.

There Jinhua’s parents, dad Zhang Shunli and mum surnamed Dai, gave samples of their DNA as well as all the information they could provide about their son.

Ultimately, however, it took a step from Jinhua himself to find his family again.

After hearing news about successful reunions arranged by Baobei Huijia, Jinhua registered with the NGO, and volunteers working with police across China were finally able to find a data match last month.

The long-lost family was brought back together this week in a tearful meeting, with Jinhua’s identity confirmed by a birthmark on his neck.

He assured his parents that his foster mum and dad treated him as if he were their own son, and is overjoyed to now have two loving families to come home to.
