CHRIS Watts was ordered by a judge to pay for the funeral of the family he slaughtered – and therapy for grieving relatives.
The killer dad smothered his two young daughters twice after they woke to see their dead mum's blood-filled eyes.
Oil worker Watts, 34, pleaded guilty to killing pregnant Shanann and their daughters Bella, four, and Celeste, three, after a deal with prosecutors to avoid the death sentence.
He also admitted destroying his unborn baby and disposing of the bodies of his victims.
But court papers in Colorado reveal prosecutors could revoke their agreement not to seek lethal injection if Watts commits another felony crime like a serious assault in prison.
And according to papers filed to the court, he was told he must fork out for funeral costs from his estate.
An order was made that he should foot the bill for any counselling needed by his relatives in the wake of the slaughter.
JAIL CONFESSION
Watts – who had been having an affair with his co-worker Nichol Kessinger – revealed in bombshell prison letters how he killed his whole family in August 2018.
He confessed that he surreptitiously gave Shannan the opiate painkiller Oxycodone to kill their unborn child, telling a pen pal : “I thought it would be easier to be with Nichol if Shanann wasn’t pregnant.”
Describing her death, Watts, 35, wrote: “When she started to get drowsy, I somehow knew how to squeeze the jugular veins until it cut off the blood flow to her brain, and she passed out.
“I knew if I took my hands off of her, she would still keep me from Nikki.
"They asked me why she couldn’t fight back -it’s because she couldn’t fight back.
“All the weeks of me thinking about killing her, and now I was faced with it."
Watts also described how he first got into bed with Bella and smothered her with a pillow, and then did the same to Celeste.
But they woke up after her failed to kill them, and walked in on him moments after he strangled Shanann so hard her eyes filled with blood.
"After I left Cece's room, then I climbed back in bed with Shanann and our argument ensued.
He wrote: "After Shanann had passed, Bella and Cece woke back up. I'm not sure how they woke back up, but they did.
"Bella's eyes were bruised and both girls looked like they had been through trauma.
"That made the act that much worse."
He told the girls their mother was unwell as he dragged her corpse to the car in a sheet, then drove them all to a remote oil field where he dumped Shanann face first in a shallow grave.
He then smothered the girls in the car with a blanket and shoved their bodies into oil tanks.
Watts said that “little quiet Bella had a will to live” and was the only one to put up a fight against him, saying “daddy, no!” as he killed her.
Shannan’s cause of death was strangulation while an autopsy found crude oil in Bella and Celeste’s throats, stomach and lungs.
He insisted both of the girls were dead when he dropped them in the tanks.
Watts previously told investigators that Shannan’s killing was a spur-of-the-moment crime of passion and didn’t admit to planning it.
Initially, he told cops that he had flown into a rage and killed Shanann after falsely claiming she had strangled their daughters.
The correspondence was the first time he’d acknowledged killing his kids.
His mistress Kessinger has been taken into witness protection in another state.
