Pensioner, 80s, killed by van in horror hit-and-run in Tesco car park | The Sun

A PENSIONER has been killed in a horror hit-and-run in a supermarket car park.

Emergency crews were scrambled to the Tesco in Barnet, North London, on Saturday after the man, aged in his 80s, was hit by a van.

He was rushed to hospital but sadly couldn't be saved and was declared dead the next day.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Police are now hunting the van driver after they failed to stop at the scene of the horror.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

They have been released pending further enquiries.

Detective Inspector Ian Watson, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The car park was extremely busy with people going about their day when this collision occurred.

"If you saw anything, or captured events on dash cam or a mobile device, then please get in touch.”
