Teen who googled ‘going to kill someone tonight for fun’ guilty of manslaughter

A young woman in Australia who strangled her date to death with a vibrator cord has been found guilty of murder.

Jamie Lee Dolheguy, 20, was charged with murder over the death of 24-year-old Maulin Rathod, who she met on dating app Plenty of Fish.

She strangled him to death after inviting her over to sex at her home in Sunbury, in the state of Victoria, in July 2018.

Australian media reports a Supreme Court jury today cleared her of murder but found her guilty of manslaughter.

It was never disputed that she had killed Mr Rathod, a student, but her defence lawyer questioned whether she had "murderous intent" according to 9 News .

Dolheguy wrapped the wire around Maulin Rathod's neck during a choke play session, she told police officers in a recorded interview played out at the beginning of her murder trial.

The Melbourne woman 20-year-old wrapped her legs around Maulin while she lay behind him, whispering in his ear "It'll be okay. It'll be over," she told investigators.

After strangling the 24-year-old, Dolheguy called police and told them: "It feels good."

On the day of the death last year Maulin drove to Dolheguy's home after they matched on dating site Plenty of Fish.

The prosecution told the jury at the beginning of the trial how Dolheguy at discussed choke play with her victim.

According to her testimony from a police interview outlined to the court, she described Maulin as "skinny" and "happy to learn" about choke play.

"I told him that I…that I wouldn't let him out of the house and he said he didn't care," Dolheguy later told detectives investigating the death.

Dolheguy asked him if he realised how close her hands were to his threat before saying: "What if I – what would you do if I were to never let go, are you strong enough to pull me off?"

"And he was like, 'I'm pretty strong,' and I'm like, 'Could we test the theory?' and he's like, 'Yeah, as long as you don't hurt me,'" she told cops.

According to her testimony to detectives she then choked Maulin while wrapping her legs around his body so he could not move.
