Netflix’s Money Heist fans claim The Professor’s true identity was exposed in season 1 after major oversight

MONEY Heist fans claim The Professor's true identity was exposed way back in season one of the Netflix show.

The major oversight was picked out as avid viewers re-watch the show's first four seasons ahead of part five.

The belief is that The Professor's role as the mastermind behind the bank jobs should have been discovered a long time ago when police investigations in the first season reveal he is the brother of robber Berlin.

The Professor – Sergio Marquina – is played by Álvaro Morte, while Pedro Alonso stars as Berlin.

The season four finale saw police inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) discovering the Professor and holding him at gunpoint.

One fan and Reddit user itsokifshecantseeme commented: "Since Berlin and Sergio are brothers couldn’t they find out that Sergio is Berlin's brother and then Raquel would have her, “ah ha” moment and realize that he’s the professor?

"I mean it seems weird they wouldn’t look at his family history and see that Sergio is related to him."

Another added: "now I think it's a little bit weird. Why they didn't even mention about Berlin's ex-wifes? (sic)

"After all at least one of them could know about Sergio, right?"

But another pointed out: "They only shared the mother".

Season four of the Netflix series came to a dramatic end earlier this year but season five filming was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fans were left convinced season five production had started after the show boss posted a behind-the-scenes Instagram video.

But after the show's creator Alex Pina's production company Vancouver Media posted a backstage video on Instagram, fans think filming is about to restart.

The clip showed a costume rack with a hanger labelled ‘Lisboa’, the code name given to Itziar Ituño’s character Raquel Murillo.
