Jeannie Mai tears up comparing Jeezy to ex-husband Freddy Herteis

Jeannie Mai is head-over-heels for new beau, Jeezy, tearing up while discussing their relationship in comparison to her marriage to ex-husband, Freddy Harteis, on Wednesday’s episode of “The Real.”

The talk show host, 40, admitted that her “standards were low” while married to Harteis, saying, “we can go into a whole counseling session on why I only gave myself the bare minimum, so I am not blaming my ex for the things that he barely came through to do.

“When [Freddy] said things like ‘good for you’ or ‘that’s cool,’ I’m like, that’s great, he supports me! That to me is my standard of support. I didn’t even know until my new relationship that something as basic …” she said as her eyes started to well up.

She emotionally continued, “I’m not crying to feel bad. It was just so touchy. But even something as basic as, like, at his birthday party, he left his own birthday to drive me to the airport…he was like ‘are you kidding? I want to see you off.’”

Mai concluded that while it’s easy for most people to blame their ex for the downfall of their relationship, it’s important to “be mindful of your standards,” adding, “sometimes being alone in that time I took for myself, was my upgrade.”

Mai and Harteis were married from 2007 to 2017, finalizing their divorce in December 2018. Freddy welcomed a baby girl with girlfriend, Linsey Toole, in October of the same year. Jeezy and Jeannie went public with their relationship this September.
