The 1975 Share New Track ‘Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America’

The 1975 have released a new track, “Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America,” featuring Phoebe Bridgers.

The track opens with Matty Healy revealing his love for Jesus and contemplating his exisitence in the world. “I’m in love with Jesus Christ / He’s so nice,” he sings. “I’m in love, I’m in love,” he goes on. Bridgers then comes in with his line, expressing his adoration for a neighbor, Claire.

Healy and Bridgers then sing in chorus, “So if we turn into a tree/Can I be the leaves?”

The group had teased the song in 2017.

The song is part of the band’s upcoming 22-track album Notes on a Conditional Form, due out on May 22nd. The album was originally scheduled to come out in late April. The band previously released “Frail State of Mind,” “The Birthday Party,” “People,” “The 1975” and “Me & You Together Song” are also part of the upcoming album.

Bridgers was due to accompany The 1975 on a North American tour this spring and summer. But the tour has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
