Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid ‘split after 6 years’ as he denies ‘striking’ her mum Yolanda
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have reportedly separated amid the One Direction singer being accused of striking Gigi’s mother Yolanda.
Zayn and Gigi share a daughter together, named Khai.
PEOPLE have reported that the pair are co-parenting after multiple sources confirmed that the singer, 28, and supermodel, 26, have split. Whilst Zayn has vehemently denied striking Yolanda.
A source told the publication: "They are not together right now. They are both good parents though.
"They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild."
A representative for Gigi added: "Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time."
Zayn has spoken out following the claims that he had struck Gigi’s mother.
Gigi’s mother, Yolanda Hadid, alleged that Zayn had “struck her”, with TMZ reporting that a source has said she is “considering filing a police report.”
It is understood no police report has been filed.
Taking to Twitter to his 31 million followers on Thursday evening, Zayn addressed the recent allegations in a lengthy post.
He wrote: "As you all know I am a private person and I very much want to create a safe and private space for my daughter to grow up in.
"A place where private family matters aren't thrown on the world stage for all to poke and pick apart.
"In an effort to protect that space for her I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument that I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago.
"This was and still should be a private matter but it seems for now there is a divisiveness and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been "leaked" to the press.
"I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared and more important I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves."
The post has quickly gained attention, with hundreds of thousands of people liking and commenting.
Zayn followed up the initial post by issuing a statement where he "adamantly" denied the claims, saying: "I adamantly deny striking Yolanda Hadid and for the sake of my daughter I decline to give any further details and I hope that Yolanda will reconsider her false allegations and move towards healing these family issues in private.”
One Direction star Zayn, and Gigi rekindled their relationship in December 2019, after splitting in March 2018. They first started dating in 2015.
