Airline sparks outrage for swapping complimentary Biscoff cookie for alternative

There’s no denying that Biscoff products have attracted a cult following over the years – so it makes sense that people are outraged that a certain airline will be replacing the popular biscuits.

United Airlines recently decided that Biscoff cookies were to be swapped for Oero Thins, as the complimentary on-board snack for customers.

Andrea Hiller, a spokesperson for United Airlines, told USA Today, ‘Our complimentary snack options continue to be a hit and we’re always looking for opportunities to introduce new selections.

‘We plan to add Oreo Thins into the mix soon and look forward to the response from our customers.’

But it’s safe to say the Biscoff community are furious with the decision.

Backlash can already be seen across social media, with posts expressing pure and utter outrage over the biscuit swap.

One user took to Twitter, saying, ‘This is insane! Leg room is a convenience, but Biscoffs are a necessity. This is unacceptable.’

Another vented, ‘OREOS OVER BISCOFF IS A BETRAYAL OF THE HIGHEST ORDER.’

Someone else added, ‘The Biscoff cookie was the best part of the flight… why… why take away the one thing that makes a flying sardine can tolerable.’

Others were quick to point out that the decision might affect them choosing United in the future. One said, ‘@united dropping #Biscoff in favor of @Oreo is another reason to choose a different airline.’

The airline says the swap-over is set to place in March – from then on, economy flyers will be offered complimentary Oreo Thins, Stroopwafels and pretzels. But they’ve also stressed that this will not necessarily be a permanent change and that Biscoff cookies could return in future.

However, it seems United Airlines have a habit of upsetting customers when it comes to their sweet food offering.

Back in 2018, the airline sparked outrage when it removed Stroopwafels, only to bring them back six months later following criticism.
