A CLEVER trick means you can get a year of 'buy one, get one free' cinema tickets and restaurant meals by paying just £1.01.

The amazing bargain is available thanks to Compare the Market, which offers Meerkat Movies and Meerkat Meals to any of its customers.

The get the incentives you need to do a comparison with Compare The Market and make a purchase.

This means buying insurance, switching energy or broadband and telephone providers or applying for a loan or mobile phone contract.

The insurance products include car, motorcycle, van, contents and/or buildings, pet, life, landlord or travel insurance.

But if you're not keen to switch any of your bills and you don't currently need any insurance cover, you can still get access by finding the cheapest deal available.

A current search shows a travel policy that costs just £1.01 – meaning that's the minimum you can spend and still get access to film and meal freebies for the next twelve months.

We tested the comparison site and can confirm it’s possible to buy a 24-hour UK travel insurance policy costing just £1.01 with either Coverwise or Ergo.

You do need to hand over some personal details and select a single trip in the UK for one night only.

To get the cheap policy to show, you need to select:

  • A single trip,
  • UK destination
  • Maximum excess of £250
  • Baggage cover of £400
  • Medical limits of £4million
  • Cancellation of £750
  • Single article limit of £200.

While this is the cheapest way to get this promotional offer this insurance policy is unlikely to provide you with cover you need.

If you actually need insurance for a trip, you need to make sure you select the limits and excesses that meet your requirements.

Compare the Market and rival sites can be used to search for a wide range of insurance policies so it’s always best to think about what you might need covering.

Once you’ve completed your insurance policy payment, download the Meerkat Movies and Meerkat Meals app and log in with your email address.

There will be a code to use for when you want to go to the cinema or cheap cheaper meals.

Most Odeon and Cineworld cinemas take part in Meerkat Movies but be sure to use the Compare the Market cinema finder online so you don’t make a wasted trip.

You’ll only be able to use your cinema code once a week.

Meerkat Meals stretches to popular brands including Pizza Hut, Frankie and Benny's, Chiquito, Bella Italia, Zizzi, and Prezzo.

You can use the online restaurant finder to see what's available and make it clear you’ll be using Meerkat Meals.

The types of food on offer will vary restaurant to restaurant although kids meals aren't included.

You'll still save money if there's more than one adult buying food, up to a maximum of six diners.
