A pair of off duty police officers have shared a hilarious video of them taking part in a ‘Haribo challenge’.

PC Knellar and PC Watford, of Tooting Town Police in south London, shared the amusing clip to the force’s Twitter page yesterday.

The duo, dressed in their uniforms, discuss why a local man called them ‘pigs’ while holding up a couple of Marks and Spencer’s Percy Pigs, with their voices dubbed by two young children.

The idea for the video appears to have been inspired by the Haribo TV adverts, which feature adults discussing the merits of the sweets while their voices are dubbed with ones belonging to cutesy youngsters.

And it’s already gone down a treat online, racking up 35,000 views and 391 retweets.

In the clip, PC Knellar – aka Mikey – turns to his colleague (‘Timmy’) while holding up a Christmas edition Percy Pig to ask: ‘Why do you eat sweeties that look like pigs but don’t eat real pigs?’

PC Watford replies: ‘That’s silly Mikey, they are sweets not real pigs.’

PC Knellar then asks: ‘They don’t look like us do they?’ to which his colleague responds: ‘No, you are right, we are big brave policemen!’

‘Yeah, so why did the man call us pigs?’ PC Knellar asks – before PC Watford suggests: ‘I think it’s because we are sweeties,’ before the pair descend into giggles.

In the caption of the tweet, the police force explain: ‘We were challenged by many of our followers to take up the Haribo challenge. We accepted the challenge, adapted it #Tooting style (off duty after our shift last week) and we are hoping it lifts some spirits and put some smiles on faces! Thanks to our two little actresses!’

It certainly delivered an injection of joy, with many people praising the officers for ‘bringing a little bit of humour to the current circumstances’.

Another recent ‘Haribo challenge’ which swept the internet stemmed from a TikTok video shared by David Kasprak set to a live version of ‘Someone Like You’ by Adele.

It begins with the camera focused on one gummy bear before it pans out to show hundreds sat upright all over his home as the ‘audience’ sings back.
