Princess Beatrice wedding: Will she snub Kate and Meghan by following this royal protocol?

Princess Beatrice will tie the knot with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on Friday 29 May this year. Their engagement was announced last year after the pair had been dating for just over one year. She could shun Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, both 38, by following one bit of royal protocol.

In a recent royal statement, it was confirmed Princess Beatrice’s wedding would take place at the end of May.

The wedding venue was also confirmed as The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace.

While Princess Beatrice has stayed tightlipped on other details of the wedding, it is likely most plans have already been finalised.

Royal brides will often follow protocol such as borrowing a tiara from the royal collection.

While some brides have a large bridal party, royals will usually keep these much smaller.

It is customary for brides at royal weddings to have just one adult in their wedding party along with younger flower girls or bridesmaids.

This is something that has been stuck to my young royals in recent years.

Kate Middleton asked her sister, Pippa Middleton, to be maid of honour when she married Prince William.

Meghan Markle chose not to have a maid of honour at all which was reportedly due to not wanting to choose from a close group of friends.

Princess Eugenie called on Princess Beatrice to act as the head of her bridal party.

If Beatrice follows this protocol she could have just one person as her bridesmaid.

This would mean some of her friends and other members of the Royal Family would miss out on being a big part of her wedding.

Who will Princess Beatrice have as her maid of honour?

When picking a maid of honour, many people will turn to their closest friends and family members.

Although they are all part of the Royal Family, it is unlikely Kate Middleton or Meghan Markle will be picked for the wedding party.

As Princess Eugenie asked Beatrice to do the honour at her wedding in 2018, Beatrice will probably return the favour.

The royal sisters are thought to be very close and previously lived together in St. James’s Palace before Eugenie moved to live with Jack Brooksbank.

Although Princess Beatrice probably won’t have many members of her Royal Family in her wedding party, she could make a nod to them with her choice of bridesmaids.

Princess Eugenie’s bridesmaids included Peter Phillip’s daughters, Isla and Savannah, Zara Tindall’s daughter, Mia, and Kate Middleton’s daughter, Princess Charlotte.

This is something Princess Beatrice is likely to do as well.
