UFC star Jacare Souza has arm snapped in gruesome loss after horrific submission by Andre Muniz leaving fans stunned

MMA legend Jacare Souza SNAPPED his right arm in his UFC 262 defeat to Andre Muniz on Sunday morning.

The Brazilian's arm broke in the first round of his prelim clash with the in-form Muniz, who is now 3-0 in the UFC cage.


Dana White's Contenders Series graduate Muniz snapped his countryman's limb with a nasty armbar following a beautiful transition from the back.

And the sickening break was picked up by the cageside microphones.

Fans watching the fight around the world were left stunned, with one tweeting: "It’s insane how mundane his reaction is to this.

"He got up and hugged Muniz afterwards. Classy guy and a savage."

Another said: "S**t crazy didn’t believe it at first WOW."

And another said: "Jacare is an absolute savage! Arm snapped in half and he doesn’t even blink.

"The dude is incredibly tough."

One remarked: "Sounds like a stick breaking when someone steps on it."

Post-fight x-rays revealed Jacare's right humerus had been snapped in two.

The 41-year-old – who is now on a four-fight losing streak – is currently in hospital awaiting surgery.

Jacare update his fans on Sunday night, saying: "Hey, what's up everybody? I'm in the hospital right now.

"So, I broke my arm and I have surgery tomorrow.

"Thanks UFC for all the support and thanks everyone for rooting for me.

"So I think everything is going to be fine. Thank you."

In his post-fight interview, Muniz said of the broken arm: “I heard it snap.

“I let go not only out of respect but I’m from jiu-jitsu, I knew it could hurt him even more if I didn’t let go.

“I’m a fan of Jacare since I was a kid. He’s my idol. I hope he’s good.

"I deserve a top 15 now, I’m here to stay.”
