Watch Alexis Sanchez burst in on Romelu Lukaku interview and hug him after admitting ex-Man Utd team-mate convinced him to join Inter Milan – The Sun

ALEXIS SANCHEZ admits Romelu Lukaku helped convince him to quit Manchester United and sign for Inter Milan.

Sanchez has moved to Italy on a season-long loan deal with a view to making a permanent switch next summer after a miserable 18 months at Old Trafford.

The Chilean gave a special hug to his ex-United team-mate after arriving in Milan after Lukaku tipped him to be a success in Serie A.

The Belgian told the BBC: "For him, I think coming here is the right move.

"But I really believe that he’s going to do well for us and hopefully he can add that little spark to our team."

And in an interview with Sky Italy, Chilean forward Sanchez, 30, says the fact Lukaku and former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte were at Inter helped him decide the move was right for him.

He said: "I am happy to return to Italian football, then we will see. I want to do only the best for me, for the team and for the Inter fans.

"We can talk about a championship, I am here to win something. The team has not won for eight years, but has everything to do it.

"The group is young and strong, there is a coach who wants to win. The presence of Conte was important, he conveys confidence to the players.

"Lukaku is happy to be here, he also convinced me to come here."

Sanchez insists he does not regret moving to United, even though his switch from Arsenal in 2018 failed to deliver success.

He added: "I’m very happy I went to Manchester United. I’ve always said that. It’s the club that’s won the most in England.

"When I went to Arsenal it was fantastic – I was happy there – but United were growing at the time, they were buying players to win something.

"I wanted to join them and win everything. I don’t regret going there.

"I was happy at Manchester United too, but I’ve always said to my friends: I want to play.

"If they would let me play I’ll do my best. Sometimes I’d play 60 minutes then I wouldn’t play the next game – and I didn’t know why."
