Coronation Street spoilers: James Bailey returns home to uncertain future | The Sun

FOOTBALL star James Bailey is adapting to a new life following his heart attack on the field.

But while he's eager to get back to work, his future in Coronation Street appears bleak after his horrific surgery.

The Weatherfield County footballer played by Nathan Graham gave everyone a fright when he trained and played with the Rovers football team in recent scenes.

James collapsed on the field, overworked, and was taken to hospital – where he found out he suffered from a heart condition called cardiomyopathy.

This led him to undergo risky surgery and his family was on edge during his time on the operating table.

However, in upcoming scenes of the ITV soap, James tells his mother Aggie (portrayed by Lorna Laidlaw) that he can't even think about living a life without football.

He adds that he can't wait to get back on the pitch, despite his condition.

As a nurse and a mother, Aggie fears for her son's well-being but masks her inner turmoil from him.

In later scenes, the Baileys welcome James back home to an impressive pile of "get well" cards from his fans.

James may believe that he'll be able to get back to playing but a visit from the Weatherfield County team manager may dash all of his hopes.

As mentioned above, James suffered a heart attack after Jenny Connor asked him to train the pub's charity football team.

But he was only asked to play when Tim Metcalfe – believing Peter Barlow betrayed his trust – stormed out and refused to take part in the game against the Flying Horse.

Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle which can make it harder for it to pump blood throughout the body.
