Corrie airing hour-long special tonight to mark soap’s 10,000th episode
Coronation Street is celebrating its landmark 10,000th episode this evening.
The ITV soap will mark the milestone by airing an hour-long visit to Weatherfield tonight as residents embark on a trip to Blackpool.
Corrie boss Iain MacLeod revealed that the soap was intending to mark its 10,000th episode with "some classic Corrie that has a comedic and character driven vibe".
Cast members was spotted filming scenes involving an ambulance in Blackpool which are set to play out tonight.
The soap's longest serving character Ken Barlow (William Roache) will join the residents on the trip which is planned by Rovers landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews).

Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that tragedy will strike during the coach trip and leave one character with the realisation they need to moe on to pastures new.
According to ITV, tonight's special episode will see "memories shared, secrets aired and tensions rise as it starts to look as though they won’t make it to Blackpool before nightfall, if at all."
Sue Nichollas, who plays Audrey Roberts, teased the epsidoe on ITV's Lorraine this week by saying: ""It's all ladies, apart from dear Ken, Sean and the wonderful bus driver.
"Rita and I, and Ken, sit and talk about life and everything. And in fact, I think the Prosecco goes to Audrey's head and she has a bit of a spat with Rita.

"That was nice, and then all the others have stories to tell as you go down the bus, as the hour goes on. It's kind of nice.
"It's just a little view into the world that was, that still is, and that is to come.
"There's nobody shot, nobody is pushed out the bus."
Corrie superfan Lorraine told Sue: "You’re never going to leave, I hope."
"No I don't. I absolutely don't."
Corontion Street is the longest-running soap opera in the world and will mark it's 60th anniversary in December.
A source told the Mirror: "It’s Corrie’s 60th birthday next year so ITV are planning some special shows to celebrate the landmark.
“The show launched the careers of some of the biggest stars on TV.
"It’ll be a real celebration of all those women we’ve seen in the Rovers Return.”
Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV
