Emmerdale fans puzzled by Aprils age as star unrecognisable amid transformation

    Emmerdale fans have been left baffled by a huge age blunder as April Windsor turned up in the ITV Dales looking completely unrecognisable.

    April was encouraged to show some 'freedom of expression' by Naomi, whose antics eventually had April sent home from school for breaking the rules.

    The next day, she rebelled against Rhona and Marlon's wishes with a face full of make-up, with blue eyeshadow framing her eyes and smudged around her lids.

    The youngster also looked to be wearing mascara, and fumed at her family for treating her like she was "10".

    Some fans, however, were under the assumption that April was still around that age, despite her attending the local secondary school.

    In actual fact, April was born in 2009, which makes her 13 years old.

    Taking to Twitter to share their thoughts, one baffled fan wrote: "I realise teenagers have to grow up on Emmerdale, but please stop this April's feistiness. It's giving me the jitters!"

    "April looks much prettier without eyeshadow. And she looks 10!" someone else said.

    While a third added: "April – I thought you WERE ten!"

    "Go on April – dye your hair green!" another fan cheekily encouraged – though Marlon was busy giving Naomi a grilling in the pub for getting his daughter in trouble with school.

    Other fans were busy critiquing Rhona and Marlon's parenting style, as one pointed out: "Rhona, if you don't let April put a little make up on in front of you ~ she'll put twice as much on behind your back."

    "Naomi should stop interfering with Marlon & Rhona's parenting. Let's face it, she couldn't say no & was involved with a thuggish girl gang, so butt out. April will find her own way in life," someone else said.

    In real life, April is played by Amelia Flanagan, who is a year older than her character – currently aged 14.

    Amelia has some very famous siblings, as her sister Isabella is known for her role as Hope Stape in rival soap Coronation Street, while her brother William plays Joseph Brown in the same show.

    Isabella and Amelia went up against each other at the Inside Soap Awards last year, with Isabella eventually winning out in the Best Young Performer category.

    Amelia won the same accolade back in 2014, as well as scooping a British Soap Award and two other Inside Soap Awards.
