Emmerdales Dingle family face life-changing decisions with major repercussions

Emmerdale is set for dramatic scenes later this year as the Dingle family face "life-changing" decisions with major "repercussions" for the entire village.

Teasing what viewers can expect from the hit ITV soap in 2022, producer Laura Shaw revealed that the Dingles will be at the heart of the "biggest stories" that will even go into 2023.

So far, the family has already had a dramatic start to the New Year with Aaron Dingle leaving, his little sister Liv Flaherty wrongly arrested for Ben Tucker's murder and Vinny Dingle escaping from village murderer Meena Jutla – to list a few.

Laura said of Emmerdale's 2022 plans: "Two of our most loved Dingles are going to be facing huge life-changing situations that are going to have repercussions for the whole village, and the effects of this are going to be long-lasting over the course of 2022 and into 2023.

"In the next few months, we’ll see drama, joy, fun, laughter, agony, pain, grief and despair hit this family. They will pulled into a lot of directions and be at the heart of our very biggest stories this year."

It comes after Executive Producers Jane Hudson and Laura Shaw spoke to OK! and other press outlets at a recent event about Meena's "judgement day".

Only recently, Liam Cavanagh discovered that Meena had murdered his daughter Leanna after he rescued Manpreet Sharma and Vinny from the evil nurse.

Meena managed to escape from Liam and the crime scene as she hitchhiked a ride in a lorry heading to Glasgow, Scotland, using Manpreet's name as a disguise.

Teasing Meena's "judgement day", the Executive Producers said: "Well, I think it's fair to say that judgement day for Meena is coming. Whether she'll get away with murder or not, you're going to have to wait and find out."

The bosses continued: "There are still some more twists and turns to be had in this story – some that you probably won't see coming.

"I think we're all agreed that Meena can do pretty much anything, but yes, judgement day is coming and it won't play out quite as you expect."
