Emmerdale's Kris Mochrie reveals romantic secrets from on-screen brother Max Parker's proposal

EMMERDALE star Kris Mochrie has revealed the romantic lengths fiancee Max Parker went to for his surprise proposal.

The couple – who met while playing brothers in the ITV soap – celebrated with bubbly on the beach before announcing their happy news to fans.

Max, 29, said he popped the question to Kris, describing the moment he said yes as "the happiest of my life".

He wrote on Instagram today: "He deserves the world, but the best I could do was promise him my heart. HE SAID YES ?❤️!

"Happiest moment of my life. @krismoc my Fiancé ?"

Co-star Lisa Riley was one of the first to congratulate the adorable pair, writing: "Love love love to you both!!! CONGRATULATIONS ?????"

Anthony Quinlan, who played Peter Barton, typed: "Aww buzzing! Congratulations guys ❤️"

And actress Mia McKenna-Bruce said: "I AM SOBBING!"

Coronation Street star Daniel Brocklebank penned: "Wonderful. Congratulations boys ❤️❤️❤️"

Now Kris has revealed how Max had part of his late grandmother's treasured locket made into the engagement ring.

Writing on Instagram, he said: "The beautiful soul that is my best friend asked me to marry him yesterday. I can’t begin to describe how happy I am.

“I love him beyond words, we laugh every single day and I’m so so grateful that he came in to my life.

“I had no idea at all! But it was just perfect… I mean this film says it all.

“Max had asked my Mum for any jewellery that my Gran had. Mum still had my Grans locket and he has had it made in to the middle of the engagement ring on the inside. So so special.

“Thank you to the job that brought us together, our incredible family and friends. And the amazing love from you all. I’m a very lucky boy.”

Kris and Max met playing brothers in ITV soap Emmerdale, with Max starring as Luke Posner, and Kris as evil rapist Lee.

They never shared a scene together because of the storyline but backstage a friendship developed and then romance blossomed.

A source exclusively told The Sun Online: "They met on Kris' last day filming and just hit it off.

"They were cast as brothers and are really alike and have been joking that casting did a great job.

"The boys kept in touch after Kris finished on the show but they've spent a lot of time together over summer."

The couple later moved into a Manchester penthouse for their first home.

Last year, Max gave an honest account of his former relationships in a chat with Attitude magazine and said he had a girlfriend for seven years.

The ITV actor told the publication: "Around about 18 I came out as bisexual to a few friends. My ex-girlfriend knew that before I was with her about my sexuality.

"As time went on I didn’t want to talk about it because I didn’t want to make her feel like people would ask questions.

"But it was only when we broke up when I was around 26, 27 that I started to tell more people about my sexuality.

"One of the main reasons why we did split in the end was because I knew that she’s a beautiful girl and she could basically be with anyone she wants, and I was stopping her from [doing] that.

"When you get to a certain age and people say, ‘You’ve been together for this long, are you going to propose, have kids?’ all those kinds of questions, it makes you think ‘Am I doing the right thing by not pursuing this thing that I’ve had in the back of my mind?’

"There did come a point maybe about a year later where I thought ‘From now on I don’t think I can imagine myself being with a woman’.

"Something in my mind just changed… I feel comfortable now knowing that I am gay."
