Everything You Need to Know About 'Politician' Hottie David Corenswet
If you’ve been watching Netflix’s new Ryan Murphy series, The Politician, and can’t stop thinking about that guy who plays River, you’re not alone.
His name is David Corenswet, and he kinda sorta plays Ben Platt’s love interest. And ours as well. There’s no easy way to say this: He’s a dreamy hunkboat — all 6’4” of him. If our Man Candy Radar is correct, the actor is about to be expedited to the top of the swoon-worthy roster, or whatever.
He looks familiar — what else has he been in?
He’s *basically* a newbie, even though you’ve probably already seen him around. He was in 2018’s Affairs of State, another politics piece. And he appeared in House of Cards’ final season. So he very obviously enjoys *pretending* to be in politics. Which, these days, is wayyy more appealing than the real thing.
Tell us more about his character!
Okay if you haven’t started watching yet, River has a romantic relationship with Platt’s character Payton. He’s seen kissing Payton in the teaser. He also wipes Platt’s tears away and tells him he’s going to change the world. Emotionally understanding and supportive? Basically extinct qualities these days.
Who else is in this show?
Corenswet is in v good company in the new series. He’s teaming up with stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, Lucy Boynton, Jessica Lange and Zoey Deutch. Doesn’t get much better than that.
And what is it even about?
So Platt plays Payton, a rich Santa Barbara high school student who wants to eventually become President of the United States. (Why? Great question.) He’s young and full of hope — probably because his mom is a very encouraging Gwyneth Paltrow.
Basically the show follows Payton as he does what anyone with his political aspirations would do: become student body president of his swanky California high school and inevitably apply to Harvard.
Boynton plays one of Payton’s more competitive classmates, and Lange plays an attempted murderer. Ya, you’re gonna want to see this.
And, of course, Corenswet’s biggest role yet will most likely put him into the spotlight.
