Hollyoaks goes back to the beginning for 25th anniversary as first episode airs

Hollyoaks celebrates its 25th anniversary next week, and fans have the opportunity to go back to the very beginning, as the first ever episode of the serial drama re-airs.

Over the past couple of months, viewers have been enjoying some of the Channel 4 soap’s finest outings from years gone by.

Two special series — Hollyoaks Favourites and Hollyoaks@25 — kept us entertained with classic episodes during the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw current episodes of the serial drama rationed out, before going off the air entirely.

With the soap back on our screens four times a week from Monday to Thursday, classic episodes are keeping the Friday slot warm.

Given that it’s Hollyoaks birthday, it’s only fitting that fans can reflect on the soap’s beginnings, and therefore next week’s Favourite is none other than the serial drama’s very first episode!

The episode in question — first transmitted in 1995 — introduces us to Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), Kurt Benson (Jeremy Edwards) and Jambo (Will Mellor).

An exploding car and a police chase also welcome us into the life, but brighter world of the Chester suburb.

Teen heartthrob, Kurt has been chasing after Natasha for weeks – quite literally on the back of his iconic motorbike. With best friends Tony and Jambo by his side, he manages to get into her friend’s party, but ends up racing to the girls’ rescue.

Natasha agrees to let Kurt walk her home to The Dog in the Pond, but will he get his goodnight kiss?

Hollyoaks’ very first episode airs on Friday October 23 at 7pm on E4.
