Through tears Arg said: “That was probably one of the first times I got a bit choked up because it's one thing putting myself through it and affecting my own life.

"It's another thing, it's the effect that you have on your family, your friends and when I’m in an active addiction it’s all a bit of a blur to me.

“I escape my feelings and my emotions and if I’m suffering with pain, I’m using the drugs and the alcohol to cover it up.

"My family, they had to deal with it day to day and it is difficult because my mum wanted to talk to people but there was constantly people selling stories on me and my mum didn’t want to discuss my private business with too many people because she was worried people would run stories.

"She didn’t know who to trust and who to turn to and it was just a nightmare.”

Arg trailed off as he apologised for crying, with the Loose Women comforting him.

Patricia then said: “At the end of the day we are just a normal family.”

He wrote on Instagram: “I’ve put my Mother through so much over the last few years & it breaks my heart.

"The best way I can make amends and make it up to her is by staying clean & sober. We are going to have the most magical Christmas mum, I promise you! Love you with all my [heart].”
